Forgot to end your Apple Watch workout? Trim it.

You stopped training but not the watch, and the walk home became part of the run. Apple Health cannot shorten a saved workout. Fix My Workout saves a trimmed copy with only the time you choose.

Why the extra minutes matter

A workout that keeps running after you stop also records the walk home, the drive or the time you stood around. The duration grows, average pace and heart rate drop, and the extra time counts toward your totals.

What Apple Health lets you change

Health and Fitness can delete a workout but not shorten it, and apps cannot change a saved workout. The fix is a new, trimmed copy of the workout.

How to trim the workout

  1. Open Fix My Workout on iPhone and select the workout.
  2. Choose Trim and set the seconds to remove from the start and the end, or type exact values. The heart rate chart shows where the session really ended.
  3. Check the new start, end and duration.
  4. Save the corrected copy, check it in Fitness and delete the original when you are ready.

What changes in the copy

  • Only the selected time range is kept in the corrected copy.
  • You can combine a trim with a distance or calorie fix in the same save.
  • A multisport workout is trimmed leg by leg.

Avoid it next time

Apple Watch can remind you to end a workout when it notices you have stopped. In the Watch app on iPhone, go to Workout and check that the End Workout reminder is on.

Questions

Can I shorten a workout in the Fitness app?

No. Fitness and Health can delete a workout but not shorten it. Fix My Workout saves a trimmed copy instead.

What happens to the original workout?

Nothing. The trimmed copy is a new workout in Apple Health, and the original stays until you delete it yourself in Fitness.
